Ongoing Health & Safety work continues:
Group Health and Safety Forum established to allow Health and Safety Managers to work together, sharing knowledge, experience and good practice. Members are also involved in promoting a common approach to Health and Safety through new and updated policies and procedures.
New policies and procedures relating to the selection and control of contractors and the management of engineering and construction projects introduced.
In addition to the ongoing programme of workplace safety inspections, health and safety audits carried out at each of the print sites. These audits help to improve and maintain standards and ensure compliance with statutory regulations.
Specialist consultant led programme of building surveys to identify the location and condition of asbestos containing materials completed, resulting in asbestos registers for buildings containing asbestos. Training provided for local Building Service Managers so that they are competent to manage in this area.
Arrangements for safety during all work at height reviewed to ensure conformity with the Working at Height Regulations 2005. Where appropriate risk assessments and systems of work improved and staff given safety briefings.
